Bengaluru Water Tariff Slashed: Check New BWSSB Rates for PGs and Apartments

Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has announced a big relief for PG owners and apartment residents. The board has decided to reduce water charges and monthly fees that were increased earlier in April.

According to the new rules:

Residential complexes with less than 200 flats will now pay:

• ₹25 for 0-200 liters
• ₹28 for 200-500 liters
• ₹32 for 500-1000 liters
• ₹55 for usage above 1000 liters
• PGs with 20 rooms: Monthly sanitation fee cut from ₹5000 to ₹2000
• PGs with more than 20 rooms: Monthly fee reduced from ₹7500 to ₹3000
• Hostels with non-residential water supply: Monthly fee reduced from ₹5000 to ₹3000

This means PG owners and apartment residents will see a direct cut of up to 60% in their water-related charges.

The move comes after repeated requests from PG owners' associations, and it is expected to ease the burden on thousands of students and working professionals staying in PGs across Bengaluru.

BWSSB's decision is also likely to reduce overall living costs in the city, especially for those staying in apartments with fewer than 200 units.
