Bengaluru Water Supply Cut For 24 Hours: Check Dates, Timings & Areas Affected by BWSSB Maintenance Work

Residents of East and South Bengaluru are being advised to prepare for a major Cauvery water supply disruption lasting up to 24 hours from February 28, as the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) undertakes essential pipeline integration work under the Cauvery V Stage project.

The temporary shutdown is expected to affect several residential and commercial pockets that depend primarily on Cauvery water supply. Officials have cautioned that many areas may receive no water at all or experience significantly low pressure during the shutdown window, urging households to make advance storage arrangements.

Bengaluru Water Supply Cut For 24 Hours; Check Date And Time

According to BWSSB, pumping stations supplying Cauvery water to parts of North Bengaluru will remain shut from 6:00 AM on Friday, February 28, to 6:00 AM on Saturday, March 1.

During this 24-hour period, water supply will either be completely halted or restricted across multiple neighbourhoods in the Hebbal-Yelahanka and Dasarahalli service zones. Restoration is expected to begin gradually once pumping operations resume after maintenance work is completed.

Areas Likely To Be Affected

Localities expected to face supply interruptions include Vidyaranyapura, Sahakar Nagar, Jalahalli, Mathikere, Sanjaynagar, RT Nagar, Gokula Extension, Nagasandra, Peenya, T Dasarahalli, Bagalagunte and surrounding residential layouts.

Many of these areas lie along the Hebbal-BEL Road corridor and the Tumakuru Road stretch, where Cauvery water forms the primary source of supply for both apartment complexes and independent houses.

What Should Bengaluru Residents Do? BWSSB Issues Advisory

BWSSB has urged residents in all affected localities to store sufficient drinking and household water before the shutdown comes into effect. Citizens are also being asked to use the stored supply judiciously, avoid unnecessary wastage, and extend cooperation to maintenance teams carrying out the work on the ground.

Officials added that once pumping operations resume, water supply will be restored in phases across different neighbourhoods. Residents may therefore experience a delay in normal pressure levels and are requested to remain patient during the restoration process.

The Bengaluru Water Cut is linked to the installation of new EMF meters under the Cauvery V Stage upgrade, according to information shared in local reports. The Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board has planned a complete pump shutdown for this work, and people in the affected zones are being urged to plan storage by Wednesday night.
