Bengaluru Traffic Alert: Windsor Manor–Shivananda Circle Closed for Chitra Santhe

Traffic movement in central Bengaluru will undergo major changes on Sunday as the Bengaluru Traffic Police implement restrictions and diversions for the 23rd edition of Chitra Santhe, one of the city's largest annual art fairs.

According to traffic police, vehicle movement between Windsor Manor Junction and Shivananda Circle will be restricted in both directions from 5 am to 10 pm to facilitate crowd movement and ensure public safety during the day-long event. The restrictions are expected to impact regular commuters, residents and visitors travelling through the central business district.

The curbs have been put in place to manage heavy footfall at the art fair and to prevent congestion on surrounding arterial roads. Motorists have been advised to follow diversion boards, use alternative routes and cooperate with traffic personnel deployed across key junctions, including Race Course Road, T Chowdaiah Road, Basaveshwara Circle and nearby corridors.

23rd Chitra Santhe: Traffic restrictions and key diversions

Traffic police have issued a set of route advisories for vehicles approaching the restricted stretch:

Mourya Junction / Anandrao Circle to Windsor Manor:

Vehicles cannot proceed straight towards Windsor Manor. Instead, they must go via Race View Junction, Race Course Road (through Trilight Junction), Basaveshwara Circle, Old High Grounds Junction and T Chowdaiah Road.

T Chowdaiah Road to KK Road:
Motorists should travel via Windsor Manor Junction, Old High Grounds Junction, LRDE, and then take a right turn at Basaveshwara Circle.

Old High Grounds Junction to Windsor Manor Junction:
Vehicles should proceed via Windsor Manor Junction towards RP Road, avoiding the restricted corridor.

Nehru Circle to Trilight Junction:
Commuters are advised to use the Steel Bridge.

PG Halli to Shivananda Circle:
The suggested route is Old High Grounds Junction, LRDE, Basaveshwara Circle and Race Course Road.

Parking arrangements for Chitra Santhe visitors

For visitors arriving by car, designated parking has been arranged at multiple locations. Four-wheelers may be parked along:

Railway Parallel Road

Crescent Road (western side), from Gururaja Kalyanamantapa to Hotel Janardhan

Race Course Road (eastern side), between Trilight Junction and Mourya Circle

Traffic police said the restrictions will remain in force throughout the day, from early morning until late evening. The stretch between Windsor Manor Junction and Shivananda Circle will remain closed to regular through traffic, while diverted vehicles will be managed under police supervision on adjacent roads.

Commuters have been advised to start early, plan routes in advance, follow on-ground instructions and use designated parking areas to avoid delays. Police have also urged motorists to maintain lane discipline and cooperate with personnel deployed at major junctions to ensure smooth traffic flow during the 23rd Chitra Santhe.
