Bengaluru Traffic Alert: HSR Layout Flyover Shut For Metro Construction, Expect Delays On ORR

Bengaluru's HSR Layout flyover has been closed on Wednesday due to ongoing metro construction by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), leading to severe congestion on the Outer Ring Road (ORR). The Bengaluru Traffic Police have issued an advisory urging commuters to take alternative routes to ease the traffic burden.

In a social media post on platform X, the Bengaluru Traffic Police stated, "Due to the tilt of the BMRCL sliding girdle at 14th Main, HSR Layout, the flyover is closed for traffic. Commuters are advised to use alternate routes. Outgoing traffic toward Silk Board is being diverted via 19th Main. Kindly cooperate and plan your travel accordingly."

The sudden closure has triggered frustration among commuters, with many questioning why such construction work wasn't scheduled for the weekend or off-peak hours. A user on X highlighted that Wednesdays witness heavy office-bound traffic in the ORR and ITPL corridors, making the situation worse. "This should have been scheduled for the weekend or late-night hours. Midweek traffic is already chaotic, and this closure has made it unbearable," the user wrote.

Another commuter echoed similar concerns, stating, "Why can't authorities plan this better? Wednesday is when most employees are expected to work from the office!" Many social media users also reported severe congestion at the Silk Board flyover, calling for better prior notifications about major road closures to help plan commutes effectively.

Compounding the city's traffic issues, the northern parts of Bengaluru are also experiencing heavy congestion due to the ongoing Aero India show at Yelahanka Air Force Station. With the upcoming Global Investors Summit set to bring an influx of visitors, overall traffic conditions are expected to worsen. However, the Bengaluru Traffic Police have deployed additional personnel at key junctions to manage congestion and ensure smoother traffic movement.
