Bengaluru To Have Dr BR Ambedkar's Tallest Statue and Museum, Announces Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah
On the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced to build a museum and install tallest statue of Dr BR Ambedkar in Bengaluru. CM made the key announcement during an event of Ambedkar Jayanti on Monday. Dr. BR Ambedkar, also known as the architect of Indian constitution, empowered the marginalised and backwards.
Siddaramaiah expressed that no amount of tribute is sufficient to honor Ambedkar's legacy, underscoring the importance of these initiatives in recognizing his contributions.

In addition to the museum and statue, Siddaramaiah declared the establishment of a Constitution chair at Mysuru University. This initiative is part of a broader effort to pay homage to Ambedkar's enduring impact on India's legal and social fabric. The Chief Minister's announcements came alongside reflections on Ambedkar's significance, emphasizing that efforts to honor him will always fall short of fully capturing his monumental influence.
Enhancing Legal Enforcement
Siddaramaiah also addressed the operationalization of 33 dedicated Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement (DCRE) police stations across Karnataka. These stations, which began functioning on Monday, are tasked with investigating atrocities against Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) throughout the state. The move aims to improve the conviction rate for such crimes, which was found to be disappointingly low during a review. Siddaramaiah highlighted that the establishment of these specialized police stations is intended to instill fear among those who commit acts of violence against Dalits, thereby enhancing the protection of vulnerable communities.
This comprehensive approach, combining cultural homage with systemic legal improvements, showcases Karnataka's multi-faceted strategy to honor Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's legacy. By erecting the tallest statue of Ambedkar and establishing a dedicated museum, alongside bolstering law enforcement mechanisms to protect SCs and STs, the state government aims to create a lasting tribute to his contributions towards social justice and equality.
