Bengaluru: This 51-year-old 'trainee' driver attempted suicide at KSRTC office
Bengaluru, Dec1: A bus driver from KSRTC tried to attempt suicide in front of the Karanataka Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) head office here on Monday, Nov 30 in Bengaluru.
51-year-old Ramu, was working in KSRTC department since past 19 years as a trainee employee and had been demanding full time-employment.
Meanwhile, his wife Vijayalakshmi found note of Ramu and she rushed to Police to file a missing complaint, however the police said "he (Ramu) left his home on Wednesday, Nov 25 and left suicide note in which he mentioned the reason behind his extreme step.
On Monday, Nov 30 around 10:45 am, he (Ramu) along with his other staff member arrived at office of KSRTC in Shanti Nagar.
They started protesting and finally they (employees of KSRTC) started pouring kerosene oil and tried to set themselves ablaze.
Conincidently, Wilson Garden Police was alerted before the incident and rescued Ramu and others, who tried to immolate themselves. Police arrested Ramu and his fellow employees under the Indian penal code (IPC) 309 act, for attempted suicide.
The authority of KSRTC said, "this was tactic of Ramu to avoid punishment for submitting fake certificate."
Even the corporation of Mysuru brunch tried to contact him after his threat to commit suicide." he further said.
Police questioned Ramu over the matter and during investigation, he said, "The officials are harassing him from over the past few years and was demanding bribe of Rs 20,000 to give him permanent job.
Later, after the police investigation, he was released.
