Bengaluru Schools Closed On October 23 But College Will Remain Open, Details Here

With the ongoing heavy rains in Bengaluru causing widespread disruption, residents are left wondering if schools and colleges will remain closed tomorrow. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jagadeesh addressed the concerns today.

In view of the downpour, the Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner Jagadish G has ordered the closure of schools tomorrow i.e October 23. This is the third time within a week that schools were being shut owing to rains in Bengaluru.

The decision was made as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff amid the ongoing weather conditions.

The heavy downpour, waterlogging, and traffic snarls across the city have already forced the authorities to consider precautionary measures.

The safety of students remains the top priority for officials, and a detailed assessment of weather forecasts will determine the final decision.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for both Bengaluru Urban and Rural on Monday. In its bulletin, the IMD warned, "Moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers, accompanied by lightning, are likely to occur at isolated places across Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts."

Heavy rains lashed parts of the city, including Yelahanka and Sahakar Nagar, on Monday night, causing significant flooding. Social media was filled with videos and posts showing waterlogged roads and submerged underpasses. The railway underpass in Sahakar Nagar was heavily flooded, with several cars trapped underwater.

In response, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) issued an advisory urging residents to "stay indoors, close windows and doors, and avoid travel if possible" due to the dangerous conditions caused by the downpour.
