Bengaluru Rains: Overnight Showers Caused Waterlogging In Multiple Areas, Wall Collapsed In Binny Pete

Due to the Bay of Bengal's "turf effect," Bengaluru has been experiencing rain for the past two to three days. The heavy downpour, which starts as evening sets in, has caused several disruptions. Following last night's rainfall, many roads in the city have been flooded. The southern and eastern parts of Bengaluru were particularly affected, with roads submerged and widespread traffic jams reported. Traffic police were on the ground, clearing water from roads to prevent major accidents.

A retaining wall has collapsed, causing water to flood into an apartment complex. On average, 36 mm of rainfall has been recorded, severely impacting daily life.

2,000 Residents Stranded: Shifted by Tractor

The Central Vihar Apartments in Yelahanka were submerged, affecting around 2,000 residents from its 603 flats. The residents had to be evacuated by tractor. Over 80 cars and more than 100 bikes were submerged in the apartment's premises. Food and water were supplied via tractors and boats.

Water Floods Old Age Home: Chaos

In Basaveshwaranagar, an old age home was flooded due to the heavy rain, leaving over 15 elderly residents in distress. The 8B main road in Basaveshwaranagar turned into a stream, causing a plywood and glass shop to be completely submerged.

Compound Wall Collapses

In Binny Pete, rain havoc continued as the compound wall behind the Binny IT Mall collapsed. An electric pole was damaged, trapping residents of 15 houses inside. Over 10 bikes were also damaged. Similarly, in Attur, Yelahanka, the rain caused major damage as household items were flooded. Families stayed awake through the night to clear the water.
