Bengaluru Power Cut on January 5: EPIP Substation Maintenance to Disrupt Supply In THESE Areas

Several parts of Bengaluru are set to face a 7-hour power cuts on on Monday (January 5) as part of an ongoing maintenance exercise at the 220/66/11 kV EPIP substation, electricity officials have said.

The disruption is linked to retrofilling maintenance work on a 31.5 MVA Power Transformer-3, a process that began on January 3 at 10 am and will continue until January 19, 5 pm. Authorities said the work is crucial to ensure long-term safety, reliability and uninterrupted power supply in the region.

During this 17-day maintenance window, electricity outages will not be continuous but intermittent, depending on the phase of work being carried out each day. On January 5, several IT parks, commercial establishments, industrial zones and nearby residential localities are expected to experience temporary power disruptions.

Among the areas and establishments likely to be affected are L&T, RMZ Next, Ragihalli-Siddapura Gate, EPIP Layout, TCS Software, SJR Tech Park, VSNL feeder areas, Reliance (Big Bazaar), Oriental Hotel, Airtel facilities, Bushra Tech Park, Gopalan Enterprises, Sada Tech Park, Qualcomm, Qualcomm-2, GE BE Company and Bagmane Neon Block.

The EPIP Industrial Area and surrounding localities may also witness power interruptions during the day.

Power supply officials clarified that the outages are being scheduled in a phased manner to reduce the overall impact on businesses and residents.

Consumers in affected areas have been advised to plan work schedules, arrange backup power where possible and stay prepared for short-duration outages.
Authorities have assured that efforts are being made to complete the maintenance within the announced timeline to minimise inconvenience to the public and ensure smoother power supply in the future.
