Bengaluru Power Cut On Jan 8: IT Parks, Residential Areas to Stay Without Electricity for 7 Hours

Bengaluru and Tumakuru residents are set to face planned power outages over the coming days as BESCOM carries out maintenance work, feeder repairs, and supports ongoing railway overbridge construction. The utility has announced that these shutdowns will mostly occur during daytime hours, between 10 am and 5 pm, on selected dates.

According to BESCOM, the outages are necessary safety measures in areas where electrical work is underway. The company has assured consumers that the interruptions are temporary and urged residents and businesses to plan accordingly to manage essential needs during the scheduled hours.

Bengaluru Power Cut on January 8

In Bengaluru, a daytime power cut is scheduled on January 8 from 10 am to 5 pm, as part of KPTCL maintenance on key transmission infrastructure.

Affected areas include:

IT and industrial zones: EPIP Layout and surrounding IT parks and commercial clusters

Suburbs and industrial areas: Attibele, Anekal, Chandapura, Manchanahalli, Mayasandra, Kombilipura, Harohalli

Residential pockets: VBHC Apartments and nearby neighbourhoods

BESCOM has advised residents and offices in these areas to take precautions such as charging mobile phones and laptops in advance, arranging backup lighting, and storing adequate water for daily needs.

Tumakuru Power Cut Schedule

Tumakuru will also experience multiple outages over the coming days for railway overbridge construction and feeder maintenance:

7 January: City Division-2 - Siddarameshwara Layout, Sabarapalya, Maruthi Nagar, Vijayanagar, Upparahalli, C.B. Layout (10 am to 5 pm)

8, 10, 12, 14, 16 January: City Sub-Division-1 - Belagumba, Lambani Thanda, Jyotipura, S.S. Layout, Kunduru, Venkatadri Layout, Hanumanthapura, Kuvempunagar, Adarsha Nagar, Ashwathota, Jagannathapura, Sharadadevi Nagar, Ganesh Nagar, Nirvani Layout, Agnibanniraya Nagar, Bhagya Nagar (10 am to 5 pm)

These outages are part of necessary maintenance and repair work on feeders and other infrastructure to ensure safety and reliability of the power supply.

BESCOM has requested consumers in all scheduled areas to:

Charge mobile phones, laptops, and other essential devices in advance

Arrange backup lighting for homes and offices

Store sufficient water for daily household needs
