Bengaluru Power Cut on December 24: Several Areas to Face Outage for Up to 7 Hours

Several parts of Bengaluru will witness a power cut on Wednesday, December 24, as the city's electricity supply utility carries out scheduled maintenance work. The outage will affect multiple neighbourhoods across different zones and is expected to last for several hours during the day.

The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) has announced the shutdown through official notices, advising residents in affected areas to plan ahead as electricity supply will remain unavailable for a large part of the day.

Why There Will Be a Power Cut

According to BESCOM, the power interruption is required to facilitate quarterly maintenance work at key power stations. The shutdown includes maintenance at the 66/11 KV Vijayanagara Station, as well as work at the Padmanabhanagar, Subramanyapura and ISRO Layout stations.

The routine maintenance is aimed at preventing unexpected breakdowns and ensuring a safe and stable power supply across the city.

Power Cut Timings on December 24

Electricity supply will be disrupted from 10 am to 5 pm in areas connected to the Vijayanagara Station. In localities linked to the Padmanabhanagar, Subramanyapura and ISRO Layout stations, the outage will last from 10 am to 4 pm.

Residents have been advised to complete essential tasks that require electricity before the shutdown begins.

Areas Affected by Bengaluru Power Cut

Areas affected due to maintenance at the Vijayanagara Station include Basaveshwaranagara, Vijayanagara, Govinda Rajanagara, Kamakshipalya, RPC Layout, Binny Layout, Prashanthnagara, MC Layout, Marenahalli, Hosahalli, Thimmenahalli, Vinayaka Layout, Kaveripura, Ranganathapura, Syndicate Bank Colony, Nagarabhavi, Siddaiah Puranik Road, KHB Colony, Magadi Main Road, HVR Layout, Agrahara Dasarahalli, and nearby areas.

In other parts of the city, power supply will be affected in Banagiri Nagar, Pappaiah Garden, Balaji Choultry area, Siddamma and Siddaiah Reddy area, S9 sub-division, Division Office area, 30th Main and 30th Cross, BNM College surroundings, BDA Complex, Devagiri Temple area, BSNL Office zone, BSK 2nd Stage, SLV Hotel stretch, Sudhara Hotel area, Chennammanakere Achukattu, Manjunatha Colony, BMTC Depot, Rajiv Nagar, Syndicate Bank Colony, Padmanabhanagar, Raghavendra Layout, 18th Main Telephone Exchange, Kidney Foundation area, Maharaja Hospital zone, Laxmikantha Choultry, Uttarahalli Road, ISRO Layout Industrial Area, Gubbala, parts of Uttarahalli, Kadernahalli, Yarab Nagar, Monotype, Teachers Colony, Kaveri Nagar, Dr Ambedkar Nagar, MM Industrial Area, Indo-American area, Chikalsandra, TT Layout, TG Layout, Bhuvaneshwarinagar, and surrounding localities.

BESCOM has requested residents in the affected areas to cooperate during the scheduled shutdown and make necessary arrangements in advance. Power supply is expected to be restored soon after the maintenance work is completed.
