Bengaluru Police To Deploy 11,000 Cops For New Year Celebrations Security

The Bengaluru Police are gearing up for New Year celebrations with extensive security measures. They aim to ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow in high-footfall areas. Celebrations are permitted until 1:00 am, and the public must adhere to this time limit.

City Police Commissioner B Dayananda stated that security arrangements have been enhanced based on past experiences. Key gathering spots like MG Road, Brigade Road junction, Koramangala, and Indiranagar will see increased vigilance. Meetings with civic bodies like BBMP and Metro have been held to coordinate lighting, barricading, and metro services at night.

Traffic Management and Safety Measures

To manage the anticipated crowds on MG Road and Brigade Road, a one-way pedestrian system is in place. People can walk from Cauvery Emporium to Opera Junction but not vice versa. The police also advise against wearing face masks during the celebrations to prevent any confusion or security issues.

restrictions will be enforced in areas like MG Road, Brigade Road, Koramangala, and Indiranagar 100ft Road due to large gatherings of people and vehicles. Pickets will be strategically placed near malls and party zones across the city to maintain order.

Coordination with Rideailing Services

Meetings with Ola and Uber representatives have resulted in designated pickup locations to facilitate smooth transportation for revelers. This initiative aims to prevent congestion and ensure a safe environment for all attendees.

A significant police presence will be seen in the Central Division, areas such as Brigade Road, MG Road, Opera Junction, and Residency Road. Over 2,572 officers, including five DCPs, 18 ACPs, and 41 inspectors, will be deployed here.

Ensuring Women's Safety

'Safety Islands' by women officers have been established at key locations for women's safety. Additionally, police kiosks offering assistance for emergencies like missing children or theft complaints are set up in strategic areas.

In other parts of Bengaluru where celebrations are expected-such as Koramangala, Indiranagar, HSR Layout, Whitefield, and Airport Road-2,414 police personnel are deployed. This includes 18 inspectors, four DCPs, and six ACPs ensuring comprehensive coverage.
