Bengaluru PG Owner Allegedly Assaults Woman Over Missing Ring: Report

A paying guest (PG) accommodation owner in Bengaluru's Mico Layout has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman residing in his facility. The incident reportedly occurred on June 21 when the accused, identified as Raviteja Reddy, called the woman into a room under the pretext of questioning her about a missing ring, India Today reported.

According to police officials, once the woman was alone, Reddy allegedly misbehaved with her and sexually assaulted her after she resisted his advances. Initially shaken and traumatised, the woman sought treatment at a private hospital. She later filed a complaint with the Mico Layout Police Station.

A case of rape has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Reddy was arrested soon after the complaint was lodged and has been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. Investigations are ongoing, with police recording statements and gathering additional evidence.

This arrest follows closely on the heels of another troubling incident reported in Cooke Town on June 6. In that case, a man allegedly harassed two women within minutes near Milton Park. The accused reportedly first misbehaved with a woman walking with her family and later forcibly hugged and kissed another woman in the park. Both cases have intensified calls for increased vigilance in PG accommodations and public spaces.

Authorities have urged PG owners to implement stricter safety protocols and encouraged survivors to report any instances of harassment or assault without delay.
