Bengaluru: One Arrested After Video Of Mob Harassing Muslim Woman In Burqa Goes Viral

A woman was allegedly harassed by a mob in the middle of the road in Bengaluru, Karnataka, for being seen with a Hindu man while wearing a burqa.

The incident was captured on camera by a bystander that showcases the woman urging the man not to film her, but he arrogantly claimed the right to do so, dismissing any authority over him.

Reports indicate that the Muslim woman, donned in a burqa, was publicly humiliated, subjected to abuse, and even molested in broad daylight on a crowded street. The disturbing video footage, which displays a heated exchange between the woman and the man filming her, swiftly went viral on many social media platforms.

In the video, the woman is seen preparing to sit on a bike which was driven by a Hindu man when she notices someone recording her from across the street. Upon her request to stop filming, an argument broke out between them. Bystanders, drawn into the situation, join the argument and proceed to shame the woman for her attire.

The crowd intensifies their aggression, demanding that the woman remove her burqa and accompany the Hindu man. They subject her to abusive language, accusing her of tarnishing their religious sentiments. Astonishingly, the man accompanying her remains untouched by the mob's aggression.

In an attempt to escape the turmoil, the woman flees, but the crowd relentlessly pursues her. They coerce her into removing the burqa before allowing her to leave. A member of the mob seizes her scooter, preventing her departure until she complies.

Police has registered a First Information Report (FIR) at the CEN Police Station, East Division. An investigation has been launched, and one individual has been arrested in connection with the incident. Authorities are actively probing the matter to uncover the full extent of the circumstances surrounding the harassment of the burqa-clad woman in the heart of the city.
