Bengaluru New Year Restrictions: Clubs Get Extended Hours, Flyover Closures And More
As Bengaluru braces for New Year's Eve revelry, the city police are pulling out all the stops to ensure a joyful and safe celebration for everyone. With a special focus on protecting women and children, meticulous arrangements are in place to prevent any unfortunate incidents.
For New Year's Day, clubs have been granted permission to operate until 1 am, while wine shops have been allowed to stay open until midnight, as confirmed by Bangalore City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda.

Speaking at a press conference, he detailed the security arrangements, highlighting the deployment of additional police commissioners, a joint commissioner, and a significant team comprising 15 DCPs, 45 ACPs, 160 PIs, 600 Sub-Inspectors, 600 ASIs, 1800 Head Constables, and 5200 Constables.
Flyovers are slated for closure from 6 pm to 6 am to prevent speeding and stunts, with comprehensive CCTV surveillance except on Airport Road. Drone cameras will also aid in monitoring various areas, especially focusing on enhancing security along Koramangala and Indiranagar's 100 feet roads. Plainclothes police officers have been tasked with additional security measures.
A week-long crackdown on drug peddling has been ongoing, with CCB officers conducting raids and inspections targeting suspected drug storage locations. Vigilance against excessive liquor storage and unauthorized sales remains paramount. The establishment of police chowkis in strategic areas further strengthens surveillance efforts.
Collaborative discussions with multiple departments including BBMP, Metro, BMTC, Excise, Health, Fire, Pollution Control Board, BMRCL, and BESCOM have been conducted.
Enhanced police security will be visible at key locations such as MG Road, Brigade Road, Cubbon Park, Trinity, Phoenix Mall, and various clubs to ensure a safe and secure New Year's celebration for all.
