Bengaluru New Year Celebrations 2026: Pubs and Bars in Garden City Must Follow THESE Guidelines

With less than three weeks remaining in 2025, Police have unveiled stringent guidelines for Bangalore's New Year celebrations (for welcoming 2026) in the city, focusing on pubs, bars, restaurants, crowd management, drugs, and overall security. The proactive measures aim to ensure that revelers can enjoy the festivities safely, without any major incidents disrupting the celebrations.

Pubs, Bars, and Restaurants: Clearances and Crowd Control

Party organisers across central Bengaluru have already begun planning large-scale New Year events, including advance bookings and themed parties. However, the police have made it clear that any event lacking proper permissions or safety checks will face strict legal action.

According to the guidelines:

• Every pub, bar, or restaurant must obtain fire safety clearances from the Fire Department. Non-compliance may lead to immediate closure.
• Establishments cannot allow customers beyond approved capacity, and overcrowding that results in mishaps will make owners directly liable.
• Service beyond the permitted closing hours will attract legal action and potential licence suspension for repeat violations.

Safety, Surveillance, and Drug Enforcement

Police have mandated the installation of CCTV cameras, particularly in areas frequented by women, entrances, dance floors, and parking spaces. Officers will review footage in the event of complaints related to harassment or assault.

In addition, the police anticipate higher drug circulation during New Year celebrations and are preparing targeted operations. Teams will trace drugs from consumers to peddlers, with checkposts conducting on-the-spot consumption tests. In suspicious cases, blood samples will be collected and sent for laboratory analysis under ACP supervision.

Special Measures for Foreign Nationals and Security

Bengaluru Police are also monitoring foreign nationals residing in the city. Using data from the Foreigners Regional Registration Office, 302 individuals living without valid documents have already been deported.

Bomb disposal squads have begun specialised training a month in advance to handle suspicious objects and ensure swift responses during major events.
