In a major milestone, Bengaluru's Namma Metro has achieved its highest-ever average daily ridership in June. According to the latest figures from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the metro system carried an impressive 7,45,659 passengers per day throughout the month.
This record-breaking achievement surpasses the previous high of 7,18,170 passengers per day recorded in May. Earlier this year, average daily ridership figures also peaked at 7.05 lakh in February, 7.01 lakh in January, and 6.88 lakh in December 2023.

During June, a total of 2,23,69,774 passengers utilized the metro services. The most significant single-day ridership was recorded on June 19, with 8,08,071 passengers. The highest revenue day was June 3, with earnings of ₹2.51 crore.
The BMRCL is currently working on several projects to expand the metro network. The extended Green Line from Nagasandra to Madavara (BIEC) on Tumakuru Road is expected to be opened by October. Additionally, the highly anticipated Yellow Line from RV Road to Bommasandra is slated to be launched by the end of this year, with at least eight trains operating on a 15-minute interval.
The remaining Metro lines under phases II, IIA, and IIB are also expected to generate further footfall for the BMRCL. These new routes include new lines from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara and Silk Board to Bengaluru International Airport (KIA), which are expected to bring even more passengers to the metro system.
