Bengaluru Namma Metro Gets A Boost As Pink Line Tunnel Nears Completion
Bengaluru's Namma metro network is on the verge of an achievement as the Namma Metro Pink Line's extensive underground tunnel nears completion. This 13-kilometre tunnel, connecting Bannerghatta Road to Nagawara, is in its final stages and is expected to be finished by August this year.
The Namma Metro Pink Line spans 21.26 kilometres, with a 13.76-kilometre underground section and a 7.5-kilometre elevated portion, encompassing 18 stations, including 12 underground ones.

The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has divided the tunneling project into three phases. The first two phases have been successfully completed, and the third phase is currently at a 94 percent completion rate.
An official from BMRCL stated, "The third phase involves excavating 935 meters of tunnel between KG Halli and Nagawara, using advanced Tunnel Boring Machines named Tunga and Bhadra. Tunga and Bhadra, which began their operations in February and April respectively, are progressing well towards completing their respective sections by 31 July and 31 August," as reported by the Economic Times.
The completion of these tunneling phases will pave the way for subsequent track laying, civil works, and the installation of essential infrastructure for the Namma Metro Pink Line.
BMRCL aims to finalise all civil and track-laying work on the Pink Line by the second half of 2024, facilitating traction, signaling, and system installations.
Once operational, the Namma Metro Pink Line is expected to address transportation challenges and enhance connectivity for Bengaluru's residents and commuters.
