Namma Metro Blue Line Blazes Ahead As ORR-Airport Link Sees 39% Girder Launch Completion

The ambitious Bengaluru Namma Metro's Blue Line Phase 2A, spanning from Central Silk Board to K R Puram (Outer Ring Road route), is making remarkable strides, achieving a notable milestone with the completion of 39% of girder launches for the project. This progress brings the much-anticipated prospect of a direct metro link to the Kempegowda International Airport one step closer to reality.

Afcons Infrastructure Limited, a leading construction company in India, has played a crucial role in this progress. They have achieved a major feat by completing the launching of all girders on the Bellandur flyover, a strategic section of the project. The final girder, connecting span ORP242-243, was launched recently, making this the first split flyover project completed by Afcons. This accomplishment signifies their expertise in tackling complex infrastructural challenges.

The momentum doesn't stop there. Following Bellandur, the Devarabeesanahalli flyover is also witnessing substantial progress. Recently, all split portal piers in this section were completed, setting the stage for further girder launches. This swift pace of construction keeps the project on track and raises hopes for its timely completion.

The Bengaluru Namma Metro Project Phase 2A is a substantial infrastructure endeavor set to augment the Bengaluru Metro network by introducing an additional 72.1 kilometers of new lines. Spearheaded by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), this colossal project comes with a hefty price tag exceeding Rs. 56,000 crores.

This expansive Phase II, comprising A and B segments, sees the active involvement of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) in erecting the 55-kilometer Blue Line. This line stretches from Central Silk Board to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) via KR Pura, Nagawara, and Hebbal. Phased initiation first concentrated on the Silk Board-KR line, followed by subsequent stages dedicated to the KR Pura to KIA expanse.

The slated completion target for the KR Puram-Kempegowda International Airport extension stands at June 2026. Concurrently, the Central Silk Board-KR Puram section, notably the Outer Ring Road route, aligns with a similar completion timeline.
