Bengaluru-Mysuru Namma Metro Coming Soon?
Bengaluru's Namma Metro has emerged as a vital lifeline for the city, easing traffic congestion and providing a reliable mode of public transport. Now even Mysuru, the cultural heart of Karnataka, is poised for a transportation revolution with the promise of a metro rail system. This exciting development was recently confirmed by Member of Parliament, Pratap Simha, who expressed his confidence in bringing this modern convenience to the city. So, when can we expect the metro service here?
While Simha's assurance is encouraging, clarity on the project's timeline is crucial. Questions regarding the initial phase, route map, and estimated completion date remain unanswered.

Simha highlighted the progress made during his tenure, bringing 11 new trains to the region and promising the 12th soon.
Pratap Simha has assured that the Mysuru-Rameswaram rail is on its way. Former CM Basavaraj Bommai and BS Yediyurappa have provided sufficient funding. They have also mentioned that the Bengaluru-Mysuru metro service will be operational in the near future.
During the inauguration of the Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha election office at the BJP office in Mysuru, MP Pratap Simha expressed confidence that the Bengaluru-Mysuru metro service will be operational soon. ''What steps will we take to participate in the elections? What initiatives did we undertake when we were in power? I have presented a report card of my work over the past 10 years'', he stated.
''What has Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered? What has Pratap Simha brought? The booklet does not list any central projects. Prior to 2014, there was no rail service. I have introduced 11 rails, and the 12th rail will be arriving soon,'' he assured.
Meanwhile, 435-km Bengaluru-Mysuru-Chennai bullet train is also set to launch soon. ''I seek your blessings once again. I am a common worker. We emerged victorious in 2014 and 2019. I have consistently made selections. If the party decides, people will bless,'' said Pratap Simha.
It must be noted, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier hinted at the possibility of building a metro in Mysuru. "Today, in Uttar Pradesh, cities like Noida, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Meerut, Agra, Kanpur... metro is starting," he said, referring to the inauguration of the Kengeri-Challaghatta (2.05 km) and KR Pura-Baiyappanahalli (2.1 km) Purple Line extensions.
"In some places, it is operational, and in others, it will commence soon. Even in Karnataka, cities like Bengaluru and Mysuru are expanding their metro networks," PM Modi stated. However, there hasn't been much progress regarding the metro for Mysuru.
