Bengaluru Metro To Cover 175 km By 2026, Improving Urban Mobility
Bengaluru's metro network is gearing up for a significant expansion, with plans to stretch its total length to 175 km by 2026. This ambitious development is part of the Namma Metro initiative, which aims to offer seamless connectivity across the city, reduce traffic congestion, and promote sustainable urban mobility.
The ongoing expansion includes the construction of several metro corridors, including the Purple Line and the Outer Ring Road-Airport Line. These new lines are set to connect key city hubs, commercial zones, and residential areas, improving accessibility for commuters across Bengaluru.

One of the standout features of the metro expansion is the development of state-of-the-art metro stations and the integration with existing bus services, ensuring a smooth transition between different modes of transport. Additionally, provisions for last-mile connectivity will make it easier for commuters to reach their final destinations, further enhancing the overall travel experience.
The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is at the helm of this project, focusing on the implementation of advanced technologies and sustainable practices. The expansion will emphasize energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions, aligning with the city's broader goal of establishing a comprehensive and environmentally friendly public transport system.
As the Namma metro network expands, travel times across the city will be significantly reduced. This will enhance access to key employment hubs, educational institutions, and other important locations, making it easier for residents to move around the city efficiently.
