Bengaluru-Mangaluru Route Affected: SWR Cancels Trains From Dec 14-22

South Western Railway has announced the cancellation of several trains between Bengaluru and Mangaluru, as well as other routes, from December 14 to December 22, to facilitate yard remodeling at Hassan Junction Railway Station.

As per a notification from the Principal Chief Operations Manager, SWR, approved by the Railway Ministry on December 11, remodeling activities at the Hassan yard will include pre-non-interlocking from December 14 to December 18 and non-interlocking from December 19 to December 22. This upgrade from Standard 1 to 3 interlocking will enhance SWR's capacity to manage train arrivals and departures in multiple directions-Arsikere, Nelamangala (Bengaluru), Mysuru, and Mangaluru.

Bengaluru-Mangaluru Route Affected: SWR Cancels Trains From Dec 14-22

During December 14 to 18, a line block, signal, and telecommunication block will be in effect from 2 pm to 6 pm and from 6 pm to 8 pm. Train operations will be suspended in Hassan during these periods.

From December 19 to December 22, an engineering work traffic block from 8 am to 2 pm will be in place, resulting in a halt to all train services during this time.

List of canceled trains include:

  • Bengaluru-Kannur-Bengaluru Panchaganga Express (overnight services): Cancellation from December 16 to December 20.
  • Bengaluru-Karwar-Bengaluru Panchaganga Express (overnight services): Cancellation from December 16 to December 20.
  • Yesvantpur-Mangaluru Junction Gomateshwara tri-weekly Express: Cancellation on December 14, 17, 19, and 21.
  • Yesvantpur-Karwar tri-weekly Express: Cancellation on December 13, 15, 18, 20, and 22.
  • Yesvantpur-Mangaluru Junction weekly Express (Train No. 16539): Cancellation on December 16.
  • Mangaluru Junction-Yesvantpur weekly Express (Train No. 16540): Cancellation on December 17.
  • The alternative service available during this period will be Train No. 16585/16586 Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal-Bengaluru-Murdeshwar. However, it will bypass the Mysuru region.

From December 14 to December 16, the train will operate via Yesvantpur bypass, Nelamangala, Shravanabelagola, and Hassan, excluding Bengaluru City, Mandya, and Mysuru. From December 17 to December 22, the route will be via Yesvantpur bypass, Tumakuru, Arsikere, and Hassan, bypassing the Mysuru route.
