Bengaluru Man’s Sleep-Related Sexual Assault Claim Dismissed by Police and Medical Findings

A 29-year-old man has alleged that he was sexually assaulted while asleep at his PG accommodation in Bengaluru's Doddathoguru, Electronics City, as reported by The Times of India. He claimed that upon waking up on the morning of April 18, he experienced chest and anal pain, along with black ink marks on his hands.

The Electronics City police were alerted by a private hospital where the man was receiving treatment. In his statement to the police, he mentioned that he had recently moved rooms after feeling targeted by unknown individuals. He stated that his door lock had been tampered with and that he was assaulted overnight. He had secured the door around 10:30 p.m. on April 17 and woke up the next morning with injuries, though he did not identify any suspects.

Bengaluru Man s Sleep-Related Sexual Assault Claim Dismissed by Police and Medical Findings

The police have filed a case under BNS sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 329 (criminal trespass), and 333 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt or assault).

Doctors Question the Allegations

Doctors at a private hospital reported that the man declined an examination there and insisted on being transferred to Victoria Hospital. Upon evaluation, medical personnel found no signs of sexual assault. A second opinion yielded the same results, and the man was referred for a psychiatric assessment at NIMHANS. However, authorities stated that he has since missed multiple appointments and has not cooperated with the investigation.

Further inquiries revealed that the man is an accused in an attempted murder case earlier this year, involving a roommate. His family, residing in Bihar, informed the police that he has a history of mental health issues and had been receiving treatment before moving to Bengaluru.

In light of the investigation, Police Commissioner B Dayananda has warned that strict action will be taken against those who file false complaints. Under BNS Sections 248(A) and 248(B), filing a false case can result in up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to ₹2 lakh.
