Bengaluru Man Murders Girlfriend During Goa Trip To Get Married

In a shocking case of suspected relationship violence, a 22-year-old man from Bengaluru has been arrested for the brutal murder of his girlfriend during a trip to Goa, which was originally intended for their wedding.

The accused, identified as Sanjay Kevin M, allegedly murdered Roshni Moses M, also 22, in a remote forest area in Goa after a heated argument over suspicions of infidelity. Both Sanjay and Roshni hailed from North Bengaluru and had been in a relationship since their school days.

From Wedding Plans to a Tragic End

The couple reportedly traveled from Bengaluru to Goa by a state-run bus, with the intention of getting married during the trip. However, during the journey, Sanjay allegedly accused Roshni of being involved with another man, which led to an argument.

According to Goa Police, after disembarking at a secluded location near Pilliem in the Dharbandora region, Sanjay took Roshni into the forested area of Mollem Wildlife Sanctuary under the pretext of a walk. There, he fatally slit her throat with a knife and abandoned her body approximately 100 meters from the roadside.

He then fled the scene, took her mobile phone, and boarded a bus back to Hubballi, Karnataka.

Swift Investigation Leads to Arrest

On Monday morning, a local farmer collecting sprouted cashew nuts stumbled upon Roshni's body and alerted authorities. Police recovered a bus ticket from her belongings, which had been booked under Sanjay's name, providing the first major lead.

Using CCTV footage and technical surveillance, Goa Police were able to trace Sanjay's movements and apprehended him in Hubballi within 24 hours of the discovery of the body. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to the murder, citing unresolved relationship issues as the motive.

Legal Action and Ongoing Probe

Sanjay has been remanded to police custody, and a case under charges of murder has been registered at Ponda police station. Investigators are now focused on locating the weapon used in the crime and collecting additional forensic evidence.

The disturbing case has drawn public attention to the growing concerns around intimate partner violence and the need for stronger awareness and preventive measures. Authorities have praised the swift action and coordination between state agencies that led to the prompt arrest of the accused.
