His West Bengal connection was evident when he began tweeting in favour of the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh which was responsible for the Burdwan episode. [Bengaluru man who handled ISIS's Twitter account worked in a food company]
Preliminary investigations suggest that he had come to Bangalore a little over a year ago. He had come after being selected to work as an executive in a Bangalore based company. Like a lot of other recruits of the ISIS he too appears to have been radicalized on the Web with ISIS propaganda material.
He had chosen to leave for Iraq, but stayed back as the salary that he was drawing from his company was lucrative and he needed it to support his family back home. Contrary to several claims, the ISIS does not pay its fighters too well and those with the terror outfit are there more out of choice and ideology.
Channel 4 which first ran the story managed to speak to him and during the conversation he justified ISIS beheadings as sanctioned in the Islamic holy scripture.
While most of the tweets that he had put up were related to the ISIS, he very recently began tweeting in support of the JMB as well. There were a couple of tweets relating to this subject which made it appear that he could have been from Bangladesh.
However, it turned out that he is a resident of West Bengal and shifted to Bangalore after being offered a job at Bangalore based company.
Biswas also had a facebook account which was active. However the material on his facebook account were light in nature. In his profile picture he is seen wearing a colourful shirt where he speaks about his love to party, eat pizza and also go to Hawai. The material when compared to his @shamiwitness account was light and had more posts about superheroes.
