Bengaluru Gearing Up for Double-Decker Flyovers To Ease Traffic Congestion
Bengaluru, the bustling tech hub of India, is set to undergo a major infrastructure transformation with the introduction of double-decker flyovers aimed at easing traffic congestion and facilitating the seamless flow of both metro rail and vehicular traffic. This development comes at the behest of Deputy Chief Minister and Bangalore Development Minister, Dr. K. Shivakumar, who has emphasized the need to identify suitable locations for constructing these innovative flyovers.
The decision to prioritize double-decker flyovers over the previously proposed tunnel route stems from the recognition that these structures offer a more cost-effective and expeditious solution to Bengaluru traffic woes. Additionally, the construction of these flyovers will not only improve connectivity within the city but also enhance its attractiveness as a business and investment destination.

The responsibility for constructing these double-decker flyovers has been entrusted to a joint venture between the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), and the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). This collaborative approach underscores the commitment of these agencies to working together to address the city's infrastructure challenges.
In recognition of the crucial role played by feeder bus services in Bangalore's transportation network, the BMTC has initiated a comprehensive plan to streamline connections to specific destinations through designated routes. This endeavor will involve the introduction of new feeder bus services, expansion of existing routes, and the deployment of a fleet of modern and comfortable buses.
Among the newly introduced BMTC feeder bus routes is Route 8C, which will cater to the commuting needs of residents of Electronic City, a major IT hub located on the outskirts of Bengaluru. This route will operate via NICE Road, a high-speed expressway, significantly reducing travel time and enhancing connectivity for residents and businesses.
The BMTC has also introduced several new bus routes within the city, including Route 515 A, which connects Satellite Petrol to Yeshwanthpur TTMC via Mudalapalya, Andrahalli, Peenya 2nd Stage, Jalahalli Cross, and Yeshwanthpur TTMC. Additionally, Route 507 G operates from KR Puram to Tin Factory, Kasturinagar, Babusapalya, Hennur Cross, and Kannuru, while Route 290-EH travels from Shiva Nagar Bus Station to Kogilu, Agrahara Layout, Tirumenahalli Cross, and Nagavara Main Road to Yelahanka 5th Stage.
These newly introduced and expanded bus routes are expected to significantly improve connectivity within Bangalore, providing residents with convenient and reliable transportation options.
