Bengaluru: Food Delivery Agent Beaten Up Over 8-Year-Old Girl's False Complaint

A delivery agent was assaulted by occupants from an apartment following a false complaint by an eight-year-old girl.

The girl had alleged that the delivery Agent took her to the terrace. However, the truth came out after the occupants check the CCTV footage which showed that the man had no role in taking the girl to the terrace, according to a report in The Times Of India.

Bengaluru: Food Delivery Agent Beaten Up Over 8-Year-Old Girls False Complaint

"A food delivery agent rang the doorbell. When I opened the door, he dragged me to the terrace. I bit his hand to free myself," she said. The security guards got alerted by the complaint, caught the food delivery agent and thrashed him.

"Once the girl identified the delivery agent as the one who had forcefully taken her to the terrace, the angry couple and the other residents thrashed him and locked him up in the room meant for security personnel," police said.

Later, the Hoysala patrol came to the spot and checked the CCTV footage, but they found nothing about the incident as there was no CCTV installed on the seventh floor of the building.

However, the CCTV installed at the women's PG threw light on the truth. "As we scanned the footage, we were shocked to see the girl walking up to the terrace alone and playing for some time. Her parents too were shocked when we showed them the footage," the daily quoted an investigating officer as saying.

The girl then admitted that she lied. "I was scared that my parents would beat me up for playing during class hours," she said. The parents of the girl lent an apology to the delivery agent.

The delivery agent told them that he too has a daughter and can understand their trauma. He said, "I don't have anything personal against you all, but I felt sad when people beat me up even after said I was innocent and that the girl was lying."

He refused to file a counter-complaint against them. He added, "Soon, I will be moving back permanently with my wife and daughter to my home state of Assam. Filing a complaint here means visiting the city for further legal formalities and court trials, which I cannot afford."
