Bengaluru Flood Alert: Continuous Rain Trigger Waterlogging At Manyata Tech Park, ORR And Key Areas

Continuous rains since the early hours of Tuesday have left several areas in Bengaluru, including the bustling Manyata Tech Park on Outer Ring Road (ORR), submerged under water. The relentless downpour, which started at around 3 AM, has caused significant flooding in and around the tech park, a crucial hub for IT companies and thousands of daily commuters.

Videos of the flooded roads inside Manyata Tech Park, situated in Nagawara, quickly spread on social media. The Nagawara flyover, located near the tech park, was also heavily waterlogged, further complicating traffic in the area.

Bengaluru Flood Alert Manyata Tech Park And ORR Severely Waterlogged

With waterlogging on the roads inside the tech park and adjacent areas, traffic movement has been severely affected, leading to long delays and disruptions. Many commuters and office-goers found themselves stranded, as the water levels continued to rise.

Authorities have urged residents and employees working in the tech park to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel in the affected areas. Emergency teams are on standby to manage the situation, while the Meteorological Department has issued warnings of continued rain for the next 24 hours, raising concerns of further flooding.

With no sign of the rain stopping, residents and workers in Manyata Tech Park are bracing for additional challenges in the coming hours.

Bengaluru's Deputy Commissioner has declared a holiday for all schools in the city on Wednesday due to continuous heavy rainfall. However, colleges will remain operational as scheduled.

The ongoing rains are also expected to affect the first India-New Zealand Test match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on October 16, with both teams canceling their net practice sessions on Tuesday due to the wet conditions.

Heavy traffic snarls were observed on major routes such as Tumakuru Road, Mysuru Road, Hebbal, Outer Ring Road, and Airport Road, with many commuters criticizing the local civic authorities for inadequate rain preparedness. Adding to the frustration, complaints about surge pricing from app-based ride-hailing services surfaced as demand spiked due to the rain.

BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath has instructed civic officials to remain on high alert as the city continues to receive heavy downpours. In a virtual meeting, he emphasized taking precautions in flood-prone areas and relocating residents to safety when necessary. Citizens can report rain-related issues by calling the BBMP helpline at 1533.
