Bengaluru: Farmers protest against state govt, cause massive traffic jam
Bengaluru, Mar 3: Bengalureans witnessed massive traffic jam on Thursday afternoon for almost three hours on the road to the international airport after farmers from several districts arrived here.
Farmers from several drought-hit districts arrived here to protest in front of the state secretariat.
Farmers arrived from Tumkur, Chikkabalapur, Kolar and Bengaluru Rural districts and were trying to reach Vidhan Soudha when they were stopped. Police officials had to use batons to clear the blockade.
Farmers are protesting against the state government for the lack of support during distress and are seeking a permanent solution to the irrigation crisis.
Karnataka has become the first in country to declare drought in the Rabi season. It has sought a Central aid of Rs 1,400 crore.
