Bengaluru: Don't serve alcohol to minors, else face 7 years of imprisonment

Bengaluru, Jan 6: Pub and Bar owners selling liquor to adolescent in Karnataka will be sent to jail for seven years for violating the norms of the state.

It's a criminal offense to serve alcohol to under-age children and revision has been made to juvenile justice bill, 2015.

MP Rajeev Chandrashekar told exclusively OneIndia that based on the previous year's complaints, some bar and pub owners are selling liquor in illegal way to the school children.

He also said, "We have written letters to CM Siddaramaiah urging him to take proper actions against such offenders with substantial punishments."

Meanwhile, welcoming the initiative taken by the MP Rajeev Chandrashekhar, Ashish Kothari, President of Bar and restaurants, said, "Revised law have to be followed by the citizens and not just the bar owners. Parents should also equally take care of their children."

Adding to that he said, "Anyone violating norms will be equally and partially punishable under certain law."
