Bengaluru: Divorce, Debt and Depression; 31-year-old man commits suicide
Bengaluru, Dec 26: A 31-year-old man hanged himself from a branch of a tree at Jayanagar 4th, 'T' block in Bengaluru. The incident took place on Friday, Dec 25.
Police identified the deceased as Shahul Hamid who reportedly was depressed over the mounting debt and his recent divorce with his wife.
The family, which hailed from Davangere, have been settled in Bengaluru since last four years.
Hamid got married to one of his distant relatives. However, their marriage came to an end in 2014. Hamid took loans as he paid Rs 2 lakhs to his ex-wife as alimony.
Hamid used to stay with his mother and brother at a rented house in Tilak Nagar. On Thursday, Dec 24 he told his mother that he would go to mosque.
When he didn't return home till midnight, his mother tried to contact Hamid his mobile phone was switched off.
A day after Bengaluru Police summoned Hamid's brother to police station and asked him identify one dead body. Unfortunately, it was Hamid's body.
The Police on Friday found a body which was hanging from a tree at Jayanagar.
His bereaved mother, meanwhile, told police, "Hamid was depressed because he borrowed money and was facing major financial crisis."
"He was unemployed and was in search of job to pay all debt," she added further.
