Bengaluru: Cubbon Park turns into a parking lot

Bengaluru, Jan 19: Bengaluru's Cubbon Park which is considered as the premier part of the city, on Monday, Jan 18, turned into a parking lot by the advocates, even after having a designated facility for parking inside the magistrate court.

The situation uncontrolled when the official of horticulture department stood against the unauthorised parking inside the Cubbon Park and started protesting, that later turned into a verbal fight between a lawyer and an official.

Mahantesh Murgod, the Deputy Director from Horticulture department told OneIndia that despite having guards and officials who were protesting against the parking, advocates paid no heed towards illegal parking. However, a letter has been issued today to the CMO to sort out the issue.

However, they claimed that the magistrate compound has been stopped for parking because of construction in compound area of magistrate court which may continue for more than six months or a year.

He further said, "After providing with the alternative parking choice to advocates to park their vehicles at YMCA ground or Kanteerava Stadium, they forcefully parked vehicles inside the park which is strictly prohibited."

Meanwhile, those who were heading to work faced traffic choas and the department was been forced to open gate of Cubbon Park.

Murgod, after getting disappointed by the advocate, said, "it is strictly not allowed to park vehicles inside the park and we will not tolerate this attitude, as there is no yet any decision over it to park vehicles inside park by the higher authority."

"We may even provide them a small area as a temporary parking solution, but there are too many small plants and parking is restricted to protect the area", he concluded.

Meanwhile, some unidentified persons pulled down the wall of Cubbon Park to make access easy for parking inside the park.
