What Woman Said?

In a social media post, the woman has accused Singh of following women and posting clips without consent. The woman wrote, "This person walks around Church Street pretending to film the 'chaos' - but in reality, all they do is follow women and record them without their consent. It happened to me. And I'm sure many others have no idea they've been filmed too. Just because my account is public doesn't mean I consent to be filmed publicly. That is not how consent works."

She tagged the Bengaluru City Police and Crime Department. She claimed, "And this is not how you earn views or build engagement on Instagram. I genuinely hope this person gets caught. Tagging @blrcitypolice @cybercrimecid and sharing this in the hope that it reaches the right people. Please help me get this taken down. I am not able to mention or tag the account since I've reported the account but the account's username is in the video,"

Take a Poll

The cops sprang into action and arrested the person.

The account by Gurdeep Singh basically posts from Church Street, a popular street in Bengaluru. In the clips, women are seen walking in public spaces. In many cases, women are unaware of the fact that they are being filmed.

Apparently, the clips are under the disguise of covering "street chaos".

Case Filed

According to a report in Deccan Herald, the case was filed under Section 78(2) of the BNS, which deals with the offence of stalking, and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2008 (IT Act), which addresses the publication or transmission of obscene material in electronic form.

However, the internal policies of the platform has made the authorities to take down the social media posts. The Banashankari Police is expected to approach the court, seeking an order to remove the content.

This case comes to light weeks after a Hassan man was caught posting inappropriate videos of women in the Bengaluru Metro. The man was arrested and the content was taken down later.
