(PICS) Bengaluru: Commercial Street turns into Happy Street! No vehicles till 2 pm today

Bengaluru, Jan 31: Are you planning to head to Bengaluru's favourite shopping destination Commercial Street today? Then, please step out after 2 pm only, as one of the city's most hustle-bustle streets has turned into "Happy Street" today!

With the help of Bengaluru city police, the Commercial Association has organised 'Happy Street' initiative to transform busy traffic street into traffic-free street from 7 am to 2 pm on Sunday, Jan 31.

'Happy street' is a noble initiative taken by a leading media house across cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Nagpur and Coimbatore.

This initiative will help citizens to a great extent, as usually the Commercial Street is full of vehicles as well as huge traffic jams and pedestrians get very little space to walk through.

"Today citizens have to leave their vehicles and have to join in activities designed to make street full of happy activities such as yoga, badminton, cycling and the road will become a canvas for artistic mind," MA Saleem, Traffic commissioner told OneIndia, in a telephonic conversation.

Saleem further said, "these are good activities and we must support them to make vehicle free on weekend and now this plan is finally implemented."

"We all join our hands together to make this event a successful one and to make weekends full of arts, health and wellness group for the city," he further added.

Moksha, a resident of Commercial Street, told OneIndia, "I have never seen Commercial Street so 'happy'. We had always seen this street full of traffic. This is a good initiative taken by the organisers."

Puja Datta, another resident from Benson Town said, "We heard about this 'Happy Street' campaign and brought my daughter here, as I have not seen such place were kids can enjoy. This is very good initiative, we wish this initiative must be encouraged and continue."
