Bengaluru bus accident: BMTC to provide compensation to girl's family
Bengaluru, Oct 21: Two days after a first year student of Mount Carmel College was mowed down by a bus on Monday, Oct 21 at Majestic bus station, the BMTC has assured to offer compensation to the bereaved family.
After investigation, police found out that the BMTC driver was earlier involved in other four fatal accidents.
The police also found that the bus driver who was running bus with registration number KA01 F8714 which killed 18-year-old Poornima was earlier involved in accidents in Upparpet, Kamakshipalya and Yeshwanthpur police station. [Bengaluru: College girl mowed down by BMTC bus]
Few month back, a carpenter from Jharkhand was mowed down by the accused bus driver Lokesh Gowda and was arrested by police.
While saying that the negligence by the driver cost life of a young student, a police official said that the "proper action will be taken against the driver." [PU college girl death: BMTC driver arrested]
BMTC assures Poornima's family to provide compensation
While talking to OneIndia, Reenukeshwar said that compenation Rs 15,000 will be provided to the victim's family and if she had subscribed for daily monthly bus pass then court will provide Rs 1 lakh as compensation.
He also added that "this won't replace the loss of bereaved family but yes, we are trying to help them in every way."
