BBMP Budget: Rs 1186 crore for garbage disposal, Rs 2247 crore for road development

Bengaluru, Feb 18: SP Hemalatha, chairperson of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Standing Committee on Taxation and Finance presented the BBMP budget for 2019-20 on Monday.

Bengaluru: BBMP Budget to focus on urban poor ahead of LS election

The budget expected to be over Rs 10,000 crore will be presented compared to the 2018-19 budget pegged at Rs 9,326.87 crore with revenue expenditure of Rs 9,325.53 crore, the budget has a surplus of Rs 1.34 crore.

The budget, being billed as an 'election budget' in the runup to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, will focus on the urban poor, said Ms. Hemalatha. "The chief minister has presented a holistic budget for the city that not only focuses on infrastructure but also on the urban poor. The BBMP budget will also be on the same lines," The Hindu Hemalatha as saying.

  • Rs 1,187 crore set aside for Waste Management
  • Rs 5 crore set aside for the construction of statue of Dr Shivakumara Swamiji
  • BBMP budget promises Rs 2 crore for emergency bike ambulance
  • BBMP sets aside grant of Rs 797 crore for salary & pensions
  • Government grants Rs 3,606 crore for BBMP in 2019-20
  • Rs 50 crore set aside for land acquisition for development projects
  • Rs 1 crore proposed for welfare of transgenders
  • Annapurneshwari mobile canteens proposed
  • Rs 3 crore has been allotted for saplings
  • Budget proposes 6 lakh CCTV cameras in BBMP limits
  • Rs 20 crore set aside for redevelopment of Mavallipura
  • Rs 125 crore allocated for the development of IT-BT corridor
  • BBMP earmarks Rs 50 crore for the maintenance of flyovers and underpasses
