Bengaluru Bandh On Sep 11: What's Open and Closed?
The Federation of Karnataka State Private Transport Associations, which represents over 32,000 private transporters has called for a 'Bengaluru bandh' on September 11 to protest against the Shakti scheme launched by the Karnataka government in June, 2023.
The Shakti scheme provides free bus travel to women in non-premium government buses. The transporters say that the scheme has led to a significant decline in their revenue, and they are demanding compensation from the government.

The bandh is expected to have a major impact on the city's transportation system, as it will affect private taxis, cabs, buses, and autos.
