Bengaluru Airport's Got a Cool New Lounge: Gate Z at Terminal 2

Bengaluru Airport just opened a social lounge called Gate Z in Terminal 2, right by the 080 International Lounge. Think of it as a mix of a coffee shop, social hangout, and tech zone, making your airport wait feel less like a drag.

Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) showed off Gate Z on January 21, 2026, just before things got super busy. It's aimed at younger travelers but open to everyone, with spots to work, hang out, or just chill.

What's the Lounge Like?

The design makes it easy to wander from lively to quiet areas. You'll find comfy seats, cool lighting, and interactive stuff to help you work, chat, relax, or just get away for a bit. The layout is made so you don't feel rushed.

Gate Z includes:

• Bubble & Brew: A café-bar for drinks and snacks
• The Sipping Lounge: A chill zone for drinks and chats
• Subway Diner: A retro diner with food being cooked right in front of you
• The Amphizone: A small amphitheater for shows, pop-up events, and get-togethers

The inside mixes global and local styles, with warm colors, streetlamp-like lights, and earth-friendly stuff to make it feel modern but familiar. The art and food have both international and local flavors.

AI and All That

Gate Z uses some AI tools to help you find your way around, get suggestions, and make things easier. You can locate zones , check out food and drink options, and have a smooth time, with chances for random meetups and chats.

BIAL ran a contest to name the lounge, and Gate Z was the winner. Students, designers, and other people from across India sent in ideas. The airport wants to be inclusive and work together with people, so the space feels right to younger Indians.

George Bennet Kuruvilla, CEO of Bangalore Airport Services Limited (BASL), said Gate Z shows how BLR Airport wants to create spaces that fit how people travel now - as part of their everyday lives, not just a stopover.

He added that by letting young Indians name Gate Z, they made sure the space is shaped by their ideas and stays fresh, expressive, and focused on people.

With seats that can be changed around, themed food spots, an amphitheater, and AI help, Gate Z is a fresh take on shared spaces at Terminal 2. It shows how Kempegowda Airport is trying out spaces that match people's lifestyles, while still making sure everyone is comfy and can get around easily.
