The aged man asked the accused identified as Sarfaraz Khan to ride responsibly which irked Khan and assaulted him with a stone before fleeing the spot. Bystanders who came across the elderly man lying on the road assumed he had been struck by a passing vehicle and took him to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Initially, a road accident case was filed, believing that the elderly man had fallen off his scooter while heading to the medical shop the night before. The truth came out when the victim's son Satish Kumar grew suspicious of foul play and reviewed CCTV footage.

To his shock, he discovered an individual arguing with and assaulting his father. Subsequently, on November 17, the Vyalikaval police registered a murder case based on the obtained footage.

Police traced the 35-year-old welder-cum-mechanic through CCTV footage from the neighbourhood. According to the police, Khan had relocated to the RT Nagar area but would frequently return to Palace Guttahalli to socialize with friends and engage in gatherings.
