BBMP polls: Meet the youngest student-turned-politician
Bengaluru, Aug 14: Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) elections are scheduled to be held on Saturday, Aug 22. 198 civic wards of the BBMP will go to polls and the results will be declared on Tuesday, Aug 25.
All the parties, including the BJP, Congress, JD(S), Lok Satta are busy with their respective campaigns to make it a win for themselves in the upcoming civic polls.

Not only old veterans, but some new and young faces are also contesting in these elections and one of the young and new face is Ashwini T, an M.Com student, who is the youngest contestant from 158-ward, Deepanjalinagar on JD(S) ticket.
Ashwini T is someone who always wants to help the poor and not only this, she also dreams to do something big for the poor and the needy.

In an exclusive interview, Ashwini told OneIndia that "If I win in these elections, then I will complete my studies by correspondence. Even after getting into politics, I do not want to leave my education mid-way".
To campaign for these elections, she recently applied for one-month leave from her study.
Talking about politics, she said, "Politics is not considered good but I believe that not all the politicians are corrupt. I want to be a politician with a clear image".
Talking about the issues in Deepanjalinagar, ward 158, Ashwini said, "My prior agenda will be working towards the illegal hoarding displayed by the private firms which encroach the path of BBMP lands.
"I will personally make sure that the area is clean, the municipality works properly so that the residents get a clean locality to live," she added.
In a special message for Bengaluru voters, she said that her main focus will be to save the 'Green City' from becoming the 'Garbage city'.

About ward 158-Deepanjalinagar
Deepanjalinagar is a ward with a population of approximately 34,653 people.
Males: 16,655
Females: 14,269
It comes under Vijayanagar assembly constituency and Bengaluru south constituency.
