This crackdown comes in the wake of a fire incident in a Tavarkere hookah bar, BTM, which had a profound impact on local residents and neighboring property owners. During the blaze, an employee of the pub resorted to a daring escape by leaping from the fourth floor to the ground, suffering severe injuries but miraculously surviving the ordeal.

Over the past few days, the BBMP's efforts have been relentless, with 10 shops shuttered and 74 issued notices on Sunday, followed by the closure of five hotels and notices issued to 26 businesses on Monday. These actions underscore the BBMP's commitment to ensuring strict adherence to safety guidelines, and the agency has indicated that similar drives will continue throughout the city to maintain compliance and safety.
