BBMP: Congress-JD(S) set to form council tomorrow

Bengaluru, Sep 10: The BBMP council will be formed tomorrow and going by the numbers the Congress- JD(S) combine will sail through.

The Congress and JD ( S) combine have claimed that they have 132 members while the BJP has 128.

The magic number required to form the council is 131. The votes would include that of the corporators, MLAS, MPs and the MLCs. The nomination for the post of Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be filed between 8 and 9 AM.

The new corporators would take oath between 11 AM and 12. The election to the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor will take place after 12 and is expected to be over by 1 PM.

The BJP had moved the Karnataka High Court seeking to bar elected representatives from voting in the Mayoral polls.

The High Court however did not pass any order but observed that the results of the Mayoral poll would be subject to the result of the writ petition.
