BBMP Changes Timings: Door-to-Door Waste Collection in Bengaluru Advanced by 1 Hour

In a move aimed at tackling black spots and improving waste management, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has revised the door-to-door garbage collection timings in the city. Starting immediately, collection will begin an hour earlier than usual.

Why BBMP Changed Garbage Collection Timings

Until now, the mustering (attendance) time for auto-tipper vehicles collecting solid waste was between 6:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.. Only after this process were the vehicles dispatched to their routes for garbage collection.

With the new changes, the muster timing has been advanced to 5:30 a.m. - 6:30 a.m.. This ensures that garbage pick-up starts earlier, aligning better with the daily routine of Bengaluru residents.

A Step Towards Reducing Black Spots

"By advancing the collection by an hour, steps have been taken to make waste collection compatible with the daily routine of the people," explained Karee Gowda, CEO, Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Ltd (BSWML).

He added that the revised timings will help residents hand over their waste before leaving for work. The change is also expected to prevent indiscriminate dumping, thereby reducing the creation of black spots across Bengaluru.
