BBMPL Budget Highlights: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Thursday, February 29, presented its budget for fiscal year 2024-2025. As per the announcement, the BBMP has come up with a plan to build 'Brand Bangalore', under which, several development programs including smooth traffic in Bengaluru, clean roads in Bengaluru, Green Bangalore, Healthy Bangalore idea, Quality education for all in Bangalore, Tech Bangalore, Vibrant Bangalore, Water Security for the people of Bangalore and many other big initiatives will be build and implement.

Burhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike tabled a budget of Rs 12,371.63 crore. Out of which, a total of Rs 1,580 crore has been announced to build the Brand Bangalore project.

For the unversed, the Brand Bangalore is a dream project of Karnataka deputy CM DK Shivkumar.

The BBMP has allotted Rs 200 crores to construct tunnels at 2 high-traffic locations near Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore city. According to the reports, these two alternative routes to the airport will be built from Bellary Road to Begur via Sadahalli gate and from Satanur Meesaganahalli to the Airport.

To beautify the roads and build cycle tracks with water drains on both sides, the BBMPL has allocated Rs 600 crores.

Presenting the budget, the special commissioner (finance) of BBMP, Shivanand H Kalakeri said, "The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) budget for 2024-25 is Rs 12,371 crore. This includes Rs 8,294 crore from own resources and Rs 4,077.59 crore from central and state government grants. The total expenditure was estimated at 12,369 crore with a surplus budget of Rs 2.17 crore."
