Bangalore Rural is one of the 31 districts in Karnataka, India. It was established in 1986 when Bangalore District was divided into Bangalore Rural and Bangalore Urban.
The district is home to approximately 24 lakh voters. The Bangalore Rural constituency was created after the delimitation in 2008 and voted for the first time in 2009. It comprises eight assembly seats: Kunigal, Anekal, Magadi, Ramanagaram, Kanakapura, Channapatna, Rajarajeshwarinagar, and Bangalore South.

The sitting MP from Bangalore Rural, DK Suresh, won the 2019 elections as a Congress-JD(S) alliance candidate, defeating BJP's Ashwath Narayan Gowda.
In 2014, DK Suresh also won the Bangalore Rural seat by defeating BJP's Muniraju Gowda by nearly 2.31 lakh votes. Suresh polled approximately 6.52 lakh votes, while Gowda secured 4.21 lakh votes, giving the Congress a vote share of 44.76% in the constituency.
This year, DK Suresh faces a challenge from the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) candidate C N Manjunath, a cardiologist and the son-in-law of former prime minister HD Deve Gowda.
