B'lore: Protests erupt after toll hike
Bangalore, May 6: Bangalore commuters were in for a rude shock when they realised that the toll enroute to the airport had increased by 70 per cent on Saturday following which protests broke out and continued till Tuesday.

Many cab drivers, residents and activists joined the protests on Tuesday, that was restricted to the lanes reserved for Bangalore vehicles.

People demanded a rollback in the tariff saying that their business was affected following the hike.

Passengers were also affected by the toll hike as some of them were left stranded by the cab drivers. While many drivers refused to pay the toll, some forced the passengers to pay the same.

HV Ananthasubba Rao, general secretary, KSRTC Staff and Workers' Federation, the Federation of Karnataka Lorry Owners' Association, the Bangalore Tourist Taxi Owners' Association and other organizations demanded the chief minister intervene to roll back the toll hike.
