Bengaluru: Deadly trip to Nandi Hills; young techie, girlfriend killed on birthday

Bengaluru, Aug 3: A young couple in Bengaluru went to Nandi Hills to celebrate birthday. But fate had something else in store for them. While returning home, they met with an deadly accident.

22-year-old Tahir Ahmed and 22-year-old Lata were in love. Their relationship got consent from their family members.

Sources informed that the couple was all set to marry each other. They were waiting for Ahmed's elder brother to get married.

Ahmed, an employee of a reputed multinational IT company in the tech city, turned 22 on July 31. Hence, the couple decided to celebrate his birthday at Nandi Hills. On Saturday, Aug 1, Ahmed and Lata along with their other friends went to Nandi Hills.

While returning home, Ahmed reportedly was speeding. His bike hit a divider on the main road and he lost control of the vehicle. Both Ahmed and Lata (she too was riding in the same bike) fell over to the other side of the road. A speeding car rammed the couple.

Police rushed to the accident spot and took Ahmed to a nearby hospital where he was brought dead. Later in the evening, Lata, who was admitted to Nimhans, succumbed to her injuries.

Speaking about the accident, police official was quoted as saying, "It was Ahmed's fault as he was over-speeding. He jumped the median after he lost control over the bike."

"It is a fast-track road which goes towards the Kempegowda International Airport and the vehicles ply at top speed. The driver of the car could not control his vehicle as the bike came in his way unexpectedly. Due to the impact of the collision, the couple suffered head injuries," the official added.
