Bangalore Drivers Can Now See Real-Time Traffic Signals, Speed Breakers, and Sharp Curve Alerts on Mappls App

Bengaluru commuters using the homegrown Mappls navigation app can now experience real-time traffic signal countdowns on their maps, thanks to a collaboration between @blrcitytraffic, Arcadis India, and the Mappls team. This new feature mirrors actual traffic lights, allowing drivers to anticipate changes and enjoy smoother journeys.

Pothole Alerts for Safer Commutes

Alongside live signal updates, Mappls now offers pothole alerts, notifying users about damaged roads ahead. This feature is designed to enhance road safety and help drivers plan alternate routes in cities where road maintenance may be inconsistent. By integrating both live traffic signals and pothole alerts, Mappls aims to make driving in urban areas less stressful and more predictable.

A Boost for Digital Self-Reliance

Mappls, developed by MapmyIndia under India's Swadeshi and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, has gained prominence as a reliable indigenous navigation solution. On 11 October, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw tested the app, which offers features like 3D junction views, voice-guided directions, and live traffic updates.

Developed in collaboration with ISRO, Mappls combines advanced mapping technologies with satellite imagery and earth observation data, providing accurate, locally relevant navigation across India. The app is available for free on the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and web browsers, and is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Advanced Features for Safer Driving

Mappls' 3D Junction View helps drivers navigate complex flyovers and intersections with realistic visuals of entry and exit points, reducing last-minute confusion. Live Traffic Intelligence offers updates on congestion, speed limits, and route conditions, while the NHAI Toll Savings Calculator allows users to plan cost-effective travel.

The app supports navigation in nine Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Punjabi, Malayalam, and Gujarati, catering to diverse users. It also integrates DigiPin from India Post, providing verified digital addresses for accurate location sharing.

Mappls stores user data securely within India, complying with national data protection standards. The app offers alerts for speed breaks, traffic signals, waterlogging and sharp turns, allowing drivers to take preventive measures and travel safely.
