Bangalore: Congress MLA attacks cops after flouting pub rules
The MLA from Hunagund, Vijayananda Kashappanavar had gone to the pub at UB City with his friends to celebrate his birthday and forced the staff members to serve them liquor and play music even after 11.30 pm, the stipulated time for closing.
When constables from the Cubbon Park Police Station visited the pub at 1 am and asked them to leave, the MLA and his friends allegedly attacked them. When the policemen informed their superiors and the latter arrived on the spot, the MLA and his friends also threatened them.

One of the police inspectors present on the spot recorded the entire episode on his mobile phone. City Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar ordered the police to book the MLA and his friends for attacking police and violating pub rules. The MLA, however, reportedly told the police that an MLA could not be arrested before seeking the Speaker's permission, said a TV report.
State Home Minister KJ George said he would order an inquiry into the incident.
Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar condemned the incident and demanded the arrest of Kashappanavar and his friends.
