As Summer Looms, Bengaluru Residents Grapples With Water Woes Despite BWSSB Assurances
With looming concerns of a water crisis this summer due to drought conditions, Bengaluru residents in several areas are already facing challenges with irregular water supply and low-pressure water flow.
In areas like Konanakunte, Hebbal, Banaswadi, Kaggadasapura and JC Nagar, residents have noted a significant decline in water frequency. The once-every-two-days Cauvery water supply has now reduced to once every two days.

In Konanakunte, residents are worried about erratic supply patterns and shortened supply hours.
Prakash, a resident of Konanakunte, commented, "Earlier, we received two hours of uninterrupted supply. However, the cost of water tankers has now doubled, and we find ourselves needing to call for water tanker deliveries more frequently.""
Residents in various other areas have also expressed concerns about inadequate water pressure, resulting in trickling water flow.
While the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has stated that there is no water scarcity, residents suspect that the agency is rationing water to prevent an impending crisis during peak summer.
"Despite the supply duration remaining the same, the dwindling pressure results in insufficient water flow for our daily needs," said Pompa Sen, a resident of Kaggadasapura.
Residents have mentioned that the combination of poor water supply and depleting borewells has worsened the crisis in several localities.
However, senior BWSSB officials have countered claims of reduced supply, attributing the situation to excessive consumption by select households. BWSSB engineer-in-chief Suresh B stated, "We are supplying the usual quantity as every year. However, heightened dependency on Cauvery water, owing to drying borewells, may have led to reduced water pressure in certain areas."
